EPL Season has ended…. April 30, 2006

Chelsea has been crowned champions…

Harry ‘Houdini’ Redknapp saved Portsmouth from yet another relegation battle… (20 points from 9 games: Simply amazing. And they did so with the help of Spurs’ discards. :P )

England’s chances of winning the World Cup looks to be flushed down the toilet (depending on Rooney’s & Owen’s injuries) …

Now all that it lacks of is a Spurs win over Bolton tomorrow & Sunderland grabbing their 1st home victory of the season against Arsenal to truly end the season. :)

The hot topic in Singapore currently is the General Election.

You know, I wanted to do a 100-pages special, focusing on each and every individual who is contesting in this election, giving the low-down on their credentials, abilities & doing a straw-poll on at least 50,000 Singaporean to gauge the chances of a particular GRC or SMC.

The fire…the desire…the enthusiasm….

.

.

Then Jaywalk tagged me for a musical meme, and that shredded my great plan.

Oh well.

.

Instructions: Go to your music player of choice and put it on shuffle. Say the following questions aloud, and press play. Use the song title as the answer to the question. NO CHEATING.
(Take note: I'm an Asian music lover, so pardon me if there's quite a number of Chinese songs)

How does the world see me? 爱情的颜色 – 杨丞琳
So I'm known as the "Colour of Love"? Guess Love must be pale white then.

Either that, or the world sees me as someone who radiates out the glowing colour of joyness to the world….lol

Will I have a happy life? 偿还 – 郑秀文

Hm, a rehash of the Teresa Teng's song. Unfortunately, I can't use the lyrics to answer the question, so I'll do my best with the limited title that I'm faced with.

偿还 means repay, which means I always owe people something. That doesn't sound good for my future…which means I probably won't have a happy life…

What do my friends really think of me? 光良 – 天堂

Good god….I didn't know I'm so heavenly to them…hahaha

Do people secretly lust after me? Love*3 – F.I.R

Not only am I heavenly, but I'm being secretly love/lusted by many!!!! Wooo!!! My music player is a True Oracle!

How can I make myself happy? 猛男日记 – 罗志祥

This song title is telling me to beef up myself, since my IPPT is LESS THAN 4 MONTHS AWAY…

Also, if I strengthen myself, imagine the number of gals who would lust after me….increase by 10-fold! MY GAWD!

What should I do with my life? 只是当时 – Ella (S.H.E)

Ella makes an appearance for meeeee!!!!!!!! This song is from their 真命天女 soundtrack…

Ok, focus!

Should I be looking back at my past mistakes/undoings, learn from them, and perhaps be a better person in life?

Will I ever have children? 天灰 – S.H.E

Cloudy days ahead….signs doesn't look good.

What is some good advice for me? 都是你 – 光良

Be less selfish, and give my everything to the other party?

How will I be remembered? Material Girl – Madonna

OOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is my signature dancing song? Far Away – Nickelback

Eh? How do you dance to Rock?

Either that, or I should dance FAR AWAY! Ha!

I kill myself with corny jokes at times.

What do I think my current theme song is? 非常特别的你 – 蔡淳佳

I'm still single…so who does this song applies to? Hmm…

What does everyone else think my current theme song is? 绿洲 – S.H.E

No link….NEXT!

What song will play at my funeral? 脆弱 – 郑秀文

Be remembered as a strongman whose weak in nature? Guess I must have died as a fragile wimp…*sob*

What type of men/women do I like? 當你孤單你會想起誰 – 郭美美

I like people who think of me often, particularly when they're having fantasies about me…

What is my day going to be like? 风云变色 – 5566 & K-One

Looks like it'll be a highly unpredictable day later. Best is to stay at home & sleep…Zzzz

Bloggers to tag this to: Nil! (Killing off another meme! Yea!)

Recently, I’ve caught 2 movies based on true-life incidents.

1st was Take The Lead. (Ok, it’s a late review…I saw that last week).

Based on a true story, the film centers on the dashing Pierre Dulaine, an idealistic New York City ballroom dancer who was the subject of the runaway documentary hit “Mad Hot Ballroom” (2005).

After spying the desperate and violent actions of a young and angry high schooler named Rock, Dulaine becomes intent on channeling his talent into the service of troubled youth, and almost immediately approaches Rock’s tough but well-meaning high school principal (the always radiant Alfre Woodward) with the idea of teaching ballroom dancing to detention students.

Were it not for the fact that this is a story pulled from real life, the premise might ring false; the fact that it actually happened only makes the movie more powerful.

This is how he looks like in the movie:

This is how he ACTUALLY looks like:

However, the movie doesn’t focus on the person. Rather, it’s an MTV-ish type of movie which focus on the dancing, and it’s really GOOD.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5. (Enjoyable, but doesn’t leave an impression)

The 2nd, just viewed, is Eight Below.

Inspired by a true story and the hit Japanese film NANKYOKU MONOGATARI, Frank Marshall’s (ALIVE, CONGO) EIGHT BELOW captures a rugged world of ice, snow, and threatening weather that few will ever experience in person.

As a guide for a National Science Foundation Research Base in Antarctica, Jerry Shepard (Paul Walker) is perfectly content to spend his time exploring the wilderness with his sled dogs–Maya, Max, Old Jack, Buck, Shorty, Dewey, Shadow, and Truman–and goofing around with his best buddy, cartographer Charlie Cooper (Jason Biggs).

Unfortunately, an approaching storm & accidents means Shepard leaves his beloved dogs behind. Soon, however, it becomes apparent that the weather has made a return trip impossible. Can the dogs survive in the Antarctic wilderness on their own, or will Shepard get back in time to save them?

The dogs emerge as the most intriguing characters in the story, each exhibiting a distinct personality and fierce loyalty. The other major player is the wilderness itself, a beautiful, mysterious world that is rarely depicted on film.

(Both Synposis taken from RottenTomatoes)

Rating: 3.5 out of 5 (A touching & gripping story…that’s how a true story should be shown.)

A quiet Sunday April 24, 2006

Lost my voice this morning, due to excessive shouting last night.

Jaschocolate: See lah. You can keep quiet & enjoy soccer.
Me: Cannot lah. You enjoy sex by keeping quiet meh?
Jaschocolate: U see that door over there?
.

Went to catch the The Magic Fundoshi with Jaschocolate, Gracey, Nad & Cow.

Funny thing was, I didn’t know anything about the play before I went to catch it. It’s good not to have any pre-expectations of what I’m watching, but not knowing the time, location, or even the NAME of the play sounded pretty boh-chap, IMO.

*taken by Jasmine when she bought the tickets*

If any of you have super-bionic eyes, you would have noted one minor irregular detail from the picture above.

It states: April 22nd, SATURDAY

Uh oh. We’ve only noticed it when we found that someone else took “our seats”. Even the ushers missed that detail when they’ve let us in.

Unfortunately, we had to buy another set of tickets. (No exchange of tickets allowed, as the onus was on the buyer to check when the purchase was made) Thanks to Jas though, we were able to make it for the show in time, and with a much better view compared to the original location!
.

The play’s theme: poking fun at human frailties and our fleshly instincts. It was a laugh-a-minute comedy, with the cast enjoying themselves & are not afraid of poking fun at themselves (with nudity, of cos…that’s why it’s NC16).

A refreshing experience for a rare theatre-goer like me. (I can count with 1 hand on how many of these productions I’ve ever watched.)

“Hopefully we can go to Arsenal and keep a clean sheet. But it will be very difficult. Anything can happen at Highbury. Maybe hundreds of squirrels will come on to the pitch and we will have a problem. You cannot prepare for things like that. We will probably have to run from them”

- Martin Jol

Q: What’s the difference between a squirrel and Spurs?
A: The squirrel has Champions League experience.

-_-”

Everyone seems to be associating me with soccer nowadays.

My colleagues will banter with me about soccer, and whether I’ll be watching that S.League match.

My friends would be asking me about soccer odds, tips, latest updates, etc.

My 2 current online games which I excel in are Yahoo Fantasy Soccer, which I’m currently 156th in the world, and Hattrick, which I’m in Division 2 for Singapore.

I had written about Sleague in the past 4 years.

Most of my blog entries are about the upcoming World Cup.

I’ll be meeting my army friends to catch Arsenal vs Tottenham this Saturday at 7.45pm.

Aaarrrggghhh!!!

Sounds like I’m becoming a 1-dimensional character. I really need to re-focus myself in other aspects of life…

How to: Bet on World Cup? April 17, 2006

Posted by kingmeng in Sports.

After quite a number of friends asked me how to place bets with the Singapore Pools for the World Cup, I’ve decided to come up with a step-by-step guide on

How To Bet With Singapore Pools

1st, let’s use an example from one of my previous post for the Odds:

So, let’s say you fancy Germany chances to win the World Cup, since they’re the host, and hosts have won it 33% of the time. So you head on down to any Singapore Pools outlet, grab a pencil, and this betting sheet named “Championship Winner”

The Championship Winner is on the right side of the betting slip.

Now, we break it down into how to shade:

1) 1st, you would need to shade the Competition. To look for the Competition Number, click here & scroll down.

Here’s the current Competition Numbers:
01: S.League
02: Singapore Cup
03: EPL (discontinued, after Chelsea’s win which almost confirmed the title)
04: E Cup (FA Cup)
05: UE Champions (Champions League)
06: UE Cup (UEFA Cup)
07: W Cup (World Cup)

So, on the betting slip, you fill in “07″, like this:

Now to the other half of the slip:

The heading’s quite explainatory. “Team” means which team you would want to bet on, and “Amount” is the wager you wish to stake.

Looking back at the Odds, you can see that Germany has a Team No. of “03″. Hence, shade “03″ under the “Team” column, and let’s say you’re feeling lucky, so you decided to bet $2000 on it, like this:

Once all these steps are done, head towards the counter and pay for your bets. Please remember to smile at the Spools Auntie, and say “Thank You”.

Good luck to all!

    HUAT AH!!!
